[ES]Este estudio trata de aproximamos a la situación epidemiológica actual de la hepatitis crónica C en nuestra región. Para ello, hemos tratado de identificar las variables asociadas a un mayor desarrollo de fibrosis hepática, cirrosis y hepatocarcinoma en estos enfermos. Dentro de estos factores, hemos observado que la edad es uno de los factores determinantes de la evolución de la fibrosis . Además , nuestros resultados apoyarían el uso en nuestra práctica clínica habitual, de algunas de estas variables como las transaminasas o el tiempo y la actividad de protrombina. Se trata de pruebas de laboratorio económicas y fáciles de obtener, que podrían diferenciar entre diferentes estadios de fibrosis y cirrosis. Sin embargo, no hemos podido extraer conclusiones acerca de la carga viral y genotipo. No obstante, nuestros resultados han sido obtenidos de un estudio observacional por lo que debemos "mirarlos" con prudencia aunque son lo suficientemente importantes para planteamos futuros estudios adecuados y de suficiente duración para conocer la historia natural de la enfermedad.

[EN]This dissertation tries to explain the current epidemiological situation of the chronic hepatitis C. We have tried to identify the factors associated to a higher development of the Liver Fibrosis, Cirrhosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma in somee ill people. Between these factors, we have realized that the age is one of the decisive factors of the Fibrosis evolution. Furthermore, our results would support the use of the level of transaminases or the prothrombin activity in our usual clinical practice. These laboratory tests are economic and easy to achieve, and they could notice the difference between different phases of the Fibrosis and Cirrhosis. However, we have not been able to obtain any conclusion about the viral load and genotype. Anyway, our results have been obtained of a observational study so that we should interpret them prudently although they are enough important to take into account the possibility of future studies in order to know the natural history of the disease .
